Thomas Müller puts things in perspective at Bayern Munich regarding Vincent Kompany and his coaches ahead of the 2024/2025 season

Thomas Müller, the ultimate Bayern Munich veteran and the longest serving Bayern player in the current squad has seen and done it all with the club. He has seen new coaches come and go as well as himself go in and out of favor at his childhood club. Very little can impress the Golden Boot winner of the 2010 World Cup. Müller recently spoke about Kompany and his coaching staff according to kicker’s George Holzner “The coaches are leading the way, they’re getting to grips with things, that’s noticeable.”

However, he questioned whether that alone will be good enough: “But will that alone bring us points and good games straight away?”

Müller did not directly answer his own question but went on to emphasize improvements not just off the pitch but on it: “What we need to improve is our performance on the pitch, make sure that we’re more dominant again, that we impress the opponent more. We want to be able to stand there after the final whistle more often and say that we played a good game than we did last season.”

Speaking of improvements, Bayern will certainly need to up their pressing game as when Müller has been substituted in the preseason friendlies, Bayern’s pressing has disappeared with him. Will Kompany’s trainings translate to improvements on the pitch?
