Frans Krätzig has absolutely no problem being a squad player at Bayern Munich
|The youngster is well aware that he is not high on the depth chart amongst a star-studded Bayern squad.
Bayern Munich may decide to loan out Frans Krätzig during the winter transfer window, but there are a number of factors to take into account. Given that Bayern’s defense has been beset by injuries this season, it is imperative that they add more players during the January transfer window. Next month, Thomas Tuchel will also be without Kim Min-jae and Noussair Mazraoui for a few weeks due to their participation in international cup events with South Korea and Morocco, respectively.
However, as the second half of the season approaches, Tuchel will undoubtedly desire defensive depth. Frans Krätzig, while he can provide the depth in that area of the field, is by no means one of Tuchel’s first choices on the team sheet. The 20-year-old has made seven appearances for Bayern in all competitions so far this season, most of which have been as substitutes off the bench. Out of the sample of the aforementioned games, he has one assist and one goal, both of which occurred in the DFB-Pokal first and second rounds. He scored in the 4-0 victory against SC Preußen Münster and assisted Thomas Müller’s goal in the shocking 2-1 loss to FC Saarbrücken.
Krätzig is also fully aware of the talent the team has around him, particularly in defense. He is fully conscious of his place in the team, even though he would want to be playing more minutes—which would be more likely if he were loaned out somewhere in January. Even better, he is more than willing to carry out his duties and learn as much as he can from the team’s more seasoned players.
It’s quite understandable that, as a young player, you take a backseat with a squad like this, take everything with you, and learn, study, learn. I sit on the bench and attempt to take it all in. I can learn a lot from this club because there is so much professionalism, knowledge, and compassion here, so I’m seeing it positively,” the youthful defender previously told kicker.
Whether he stays or is loaned out during the winter transfer window, Bayern will benefit in either case. In any case, he is in a setting where he may advance his development and pick up tips from the team’s more seasoned players. If he is loaned out, his market value may rise for Bayern should they decide to investigate the possibility of re-loaning him or possibly selling him permanently.
