Tomas Soucek admits that he wants West Ham to “play more forward” following a disappointing result against Crystal Palace.

Despite extending their unbeaten run to 5 games, West Ham fans felt disappointed that they shared the points with Crystal Palace on Sunday. It was an overall uninspired performance but it was only due to a Mavropanos blunder that the away side were able to level the tie.

Sadly, even though the Hammers played better in the last minutes of the match, Tomas Soucek was not happy with the outcome and the team was unable to produce another late winner. He said to WHUFC.com, “It was a draw in the end, but obviously we wanted to win.” “We admitted our error after making one.”

Although it started out rather evenly, the hosts eventually gained the upper hand. Had they exhibited that level of urgency right away, the outcome might have been drastically different.

The Czech acknowledged, “I think we looked like the better team in the last ten or fifteen minutes.” “We were unable to score in the final minute, but we still wanted more, to win. After acknowledging the point,

“We won the last four games before this, two in the league and Europe, so it was a good way, and we were attacking in the last 15 minutes all the time.”

Recently, some have criticised the football that West Ham play, but Soucek has made it clear that he wants his team to play on the front foot. “I think we should play [like that final period] more, not too deep or too slow, we should play more forward and get them under pressure.”

“Now, we play a big derby in the next game. For us and for our fans it’s a very important game and we want to be ready for it.”

Given that West Ham has won five straight and Tottenham has lost its past four, this might be a fantastic opportunity for both attacking football and confidence building. It’s the ideal time to do it because Spurs’ chronic injury crisis has made them vulnerable at the back.

Most importantly, the Irons need to build on the things that went well in their previous five games and also learn from their failures, especially their propensity to give up early in the second half. If Soucek is to secure another season of European football, it is imperative that some of the other players learn from his tremendous improvement this season.
