Bayern Munich €45m second proposal to English club was soundly rejected

There is still a significant gap in what the English club vs. what Bayern Munich is willing to pay — at least at this point:

Bayern submitted a second bid to Fulham worth €45m for João Palhinha on Tuesday, which still wasn’t enough for the English club. Fulham are unwilling to accept less than the fee that was agreed last summer (€58m plus €9m add-ons). Personal terms with Palhinha already agreed (fixed salary €10m per year plus add-ons). The negotiations between clubs continue.

If you are looking for a bright side, Palhinha will reject any advances from Manchester United for what it is worth:

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha will reject any approach from Manchester United and is intent on joining Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports in Germany.

The 28-year-old came close to joining Bayern last summer but his €65 million (£55.6m) move collapsed in the closing stages of the transfer window as Fulham were unable to sign a replacement.

Finally, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg says that Bayern Munich lobbed yet another offer to Fulham, which likely will not get the job done:

Bayern have improved their bid for João Palhinha. The new offer is between 40 and 45 million euros. Fulham remain tough in negotiations. Bayern want Palhinha but are not ready to sign him at any price. Fulham would have to lower their demands.

Bayern Munich already missed its first deadline to get a deal done for Palhinha. Can the Bavarians make progress on their third proposal…or will they wait out Fulham and try to get the midfielder at a lower fee?
