Nottingham Forest decides as a significant update regarding Chris Wood’s contract appears.

Nottingham Forest are said to be activating a clause in Ola Aina’s contract to keep the Nigeria international at the City Ground for another year.

The 27-year-old defender joined the Reds on a one-year deal last summer, following his departure from Italian side Torino. And he has played in 16 of Forest’s 31 matches in the Premier League so far this season, missing a chunk of the campaign as he helped Nigeria reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Telegraph report Forest will reward the player for his performances by triggering a one-year contract extension. They also claim striker Chris Wood is under contract at the City Ground until the end of next season. It was thought the New Zealand international’s deal ended this summer when he signed from Newcastle United.

Wood has been in great form in front of goal for the Reds, scoring eight goals in his last nine matches for the club in the Premier League. He has netted three times in their last three league matches, against Luton Town, Crystal Palace and Fulham, ahead of facing Tottenham this weekend.
