Chelsea v Wolves early injury news as 3 out and 2 doubts

Wolves travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea with both sides in search of their first points of the Premier Leagues season.

Wolves team news

Nelson Semedo is back and available for selection after serving a suspension. He was red carded against Liverpool last season, and the club opted not to appeal against it.

One player who won’t be seen for some time is Enso Gonzalez. He suffered an ACL injury whilst at the Olympic Games and has undergone surgery, with the player expected to miss the next nine months.

Leon Chiwone is contending with an ankle injury and is currently absent. He was reportedly of interest to Blackburn Rovers and Hull City last month, and that came off the back of a new-four year deal at Molineux was confirmed in June.

Out: Enso Gonzalez and Leon Chiwone.

Chelsea team news

Captain Reece James suffered a hamstring injury on the eve of the new campaign. He’s had to contend with several injuries over the last few months but this one isn’t serious and is only regarded as a small one. If James was fit then he wouldn’t be available for selection as he is serving a four-game suspension.

Goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic missed the tour of the United States but is pushing to be in contention. He has a tough task ahead of him though as Filip Jorgensen was signed from Villarreal and there’s also Robert Sanchez and Kepa Arrizabalaga to contend with.

Omari Kellyman joined from Aston Villa in the summer but remained in West London to overcome an unspecified injury. He played 45 minutes in a Premier League 2 last week and so whilst he’s getting back to fitness, he’s perhaps not ready just yet to get in to the match day squad.

There’s an uncertainty around the future of Raheem Sterling, who was left out of their squad to face Manchester City at the weekend. He hasn’t been named in their quad to face Servette in the UEFA Conference League play-off either. Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo were also not included.

Out: Reece James. Doubt: Dorde Petrovic and Omari Kellyman.
