Bayern Munich’s financial advantage over the rest of the Bundesliga isn’t the most heavily guarded secret. But if Bayern wants to compete with Manchester City, Real Madrid, and the other European heavyweights, then the club will need to continue its summer spending spree.

Capology published some updated numbers and and it’s no surprise that Max Eberl is tasked with lowering Bayern’s wage bill in order to fund future transfers.

Here are some other fun facts from this release:

  • Bayern’s 12th-highest paid player (Alphonso Davies, €11.25M) makes more than the highest paid player on every other Bundesliga team
  • Bayern’s payroll represents 32% of all Bundesliga salaries
  • Dortmund’s starting XI costs €85M; Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Serge Gnabry also cost €85M
  • Michael Olise will make more than the entire St. Pauli squad
  • Bundesliga winner Bayer Leverkusen’s starting XI costs €47M; Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Konrad Laimer cost €46M
  • Leverkusen’s highest-paid players, Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrik Schick, both make €6M/year; this puts them way down at 34th in the league
