The Sky Blues quickly reallocated a portion of the ÂŁ35 million they received from the sales of key midfield players Gustavo Hamer and top scorer Viktor Gyokeres to fund the signing of nine new permanent players and two loan players.

Fourteen players left the Coventry Building Society Arena in all: two were sold, five loan players went back to their parent clubs after being sent elsewhere, and seven seniors were released.

These players are currently getting used to their new environments, and it’s not always simple. Although how well they perform in the first few months at their new clubs won’t determine how successful their careers are there, it can give them an indication of how the season will go and how valuable they will be there.

Here, we’ve examined the experiences of those who left City throughout the summer’s first five and a half months. Which do you believe will be the most successful in the future? Let us know in the comments section below.

Gustavo Hamer – Sheffield United

Gus Hamer, a former Sky Blues favorite, got off to a quick start in the Premier League, starting all three of Sheffield United’s top-tier matches after moving to Bramall Lane for ÂŁ15 million. He scored on his debut in a 2-1 loss to Man City at the City Ground. He added a second goal in a 2-1 loss to Tottenham, but the Blades have had a terrible season, winning just two games overall. With United, who are currently leading the Premier League with just nine points, Hamer has made eighteen starts thus far. The team now has a new manager in Chris Wilder, the former manager of Paul Heckingbottom.

Tyler Walker – Lincoln City

The 27-year-old striker made his way back to the club where he had a successful loan spell before to joining the Sky Blues, but he failed to score in his first five League One games as an Imp, making two starts and three substitute appearances. He hasn’t played since late August, and his hamstring tear has kept him out of action for now.

Martyn Waghorn – Derby County

After rejoining the Rams, the seasoned forward had an outstanding start to the current campaign, tallying five goals in three games. He scored his first goal in a 2-1 loss to Oxford at home, but he also scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 Pride Park triumph against Fleetwood. He then went on a 16-minute goal binge towards the end of the first half to secure a 4-2 victory at Peterborough. Despite being a fixture in the League One team, he has only scored one more goal in his past 11 outings. He has been out since the beginning of December due to a calf issue.

To date, he has made 26 appearances, 20 of which have been starts in the Championship and 2 as substitutes. He has played with Luke McNally, a former Sky Blues loan player, although the Potters are now in 17th place in the division after a dismal start to the new season.

The top scorer from Coventry City’s previous campaign had an incredible first two minutes at Sporting, scoring twice in quick succession to lead his new team to a 3-2 victory over Vizela. With 20 goals and 10 assists in 24 official games for Sporting, the 25-year-old striker has established himself as a revelation in Portugal. He is now the second most lethal attacker in Europe, trailing only Harry Kane, who has 25 goals and 8 assists after 22 games for Bayern Munich.
