Newcastle United squad break silence on Sandro Tonali – key attribute revealed

Joelinton is hoping to strike a fierce midfield partnership with Newcastle United teammate Sandro Tonali
Joelinton has revealed Sandro Tonali “works hard” in training and will become a success for Newcastle United.

The Magpies were robbed of their marquee arrival last season after Italian authorities slapped Tonali with a 10-month ban for breaching betting regulations. He is currently enjoying pre-season training ahead of a highly-anticipated return on September 1.

Tottenham Hotspur will be Tonali’s comeback fixture, with the midfielder prohibited from playing in pre-season. Supporters have showered the 24-year-old with love from the terraces throughout his lengthy suspension.

Eddie Howe, too, will be relishing the opportunity to field the Italy international following a difficult campaign. Midfield proved a problem area for Newcastle given Tonali’s ban and Joelinton’s thigh injury.

The Brazilian – the first Newcastle player to discuss Tonali publicly – has opened up about what his £55million teammate will bring to United when he returns. Joelinton said: “Sandro’s a great lad,” he said. “He works really hard. I hope he can really help the team this season because he’s a great player.”

Joelinton also cannot wait to make his mark following a frustrating 2023-24. Despite injuries derailing his season, the 27-year-old penned a bumper four-year contract and is eager to repay that faith.

“I’m very happy here,” Joelinton added. “I love the club, the city, my family is happy, I enjoy my life. I’m happy to continue my journey here; my hopes are high for the next season. Last season was difficult for me with the injuries but now I want to help us get back up there again.”
