Aston Villa told €60m transfer price as failed Man United hijack revealed

Manchester United were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Aston Villa bound midfielder Amadou Onana according to a report.

The 22-year-old is bound for Villa Park and is expected to complete his £50m move from Everton this weekend. Fabrizio Romano said that a medical has been booked for Sunday, and if all goes to plan he will sign his contract on Monday, where he will be unveiled.

The deal is £50m, but also includes a sell-on-clause and add-ons. Romano gave the deal his trademark ‘Here we go, confirmed’ approval which signifies that the deal is close.

It has since emerged however that a Premier League rival almost tried to steal Onana from under Villa’s noses. Pieter-Jan Calcoen, a Belgian journalist for Nieuwsblad Sport said that Man United tried to hijack Villa’s deal for Onana, but that the midfielder had already made his choice.

United are playing in the UEFA Europa League next season, whereas Villa are dining at European football’s top table. To make up for missing out on Onana, United have moved on to Manuel Ugarte according to Romano. Personal terms have been agreed with the player, he is keen to move to Old Trafford, and there are talks to be had with PSG before a deal can be wrapped up.

In other news, Marca are reporting that Atletico Madrid have said that they want €60m for Joao Felix and will only consider a permanent departure. They will not entertain the idea of loaning him out again following loans at Chelsea and Barcelona.

The 24-year-old got 10 goals and six assists in 44 games for Barcelona last season but ended up trophy less. Atletico’s stance on Felix could rule the Catalan giants out of making a move for him, as currently they are unable to afford any big money moves.

Aston Villa has been mentioned as a possible destination by the press abroad. Villa are set to part ways with club record signing Moussa Diaby after just one season, and the player once signed for £113 million, could now be given another chance in English football after a brief stint with Chelsea.
