Everton takeover: Update emerges as ‘strong favourite’ decision could be made in few hours

Dan Freidkin has emerged as the frontrunner to buy Everton, reports suggest.

The Athletic reports that the American billionaire is ahead of the queue and is weighing up a decision on whether to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake.

It is suggested that Freidkin, through his group the Freidkin Group, will make a call in the next 24 hours.

Everton have attracted interest from several parties since 777 Partners’ proposed deal collapsed at the end of last month. They include local businessmen Andy Bell and George Downing, MSP Sports Capital and most recently Vici Private Finance.

However, it is said that Freidkin is the favourite. The Texas-based businessman also owns Italian outfit AS Roma, having owned the club since 2020. He has an estimated net wealth of $6.2 billion.
