Wolves trialist wanted by Blackburn Rovers as player transfer deal edges ‘closer’ to completion

Defender latest

In this latest update regarding his future, he has emerged on the radar of Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon, former Birmingham City boss John Eustace could try and lure him to Ewood Park as an alternative to Liam Cooper.

Batth rose up through the academy ranks at Wolves and was a regular for them at various different levels as a youngster.

He was loaned out to the likes of Colchester United, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough to boost his development.

The centre-back then went on to play 212 games for Wolves and helped them rise from League One to the top flight, scoring 16 goals from the back.

Batth left in 2019 and has since had stints at Stoke City, Sunderland and Norwich.

Goalkeeper update

Journalist Nixon has also reported on his Patreon that Arsenal have made a new bid for Wolves goalkeeper Daniel Bentley and a deal is ‘closer’ to completion.

The 31-year-old was signed in 2022 to provide competition and cover between the sticks.

Arsenal could see him as someone to act as back-up for David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale. They finished 2nd in the table again last term behind Manchester City and will be aiming to claim top spot ahead of their rivals next time around under boss Mikel Arteta.

Regarding Wolves’ current pre-season preparations, Bentley has recently said: “I’m not a great fan of pre-season – I much prefer when the real stuff starts and we’re doing the hustle and bustle of the Premier League season, but I understand that pre-season has its place and what it’s there for.

“I have to embrace it and I do to the best of my ability, but I’m not going to say I’m buzzing for double sessions every day, but I appreciate it has its usages, and we embrace it as much as possible, so come the first game of the season we are ready to go.

“It’s been tough, but it’s what pre-season is all about. It’s a hard graft and the weather just adds to the intensity of how difficult it becomes and how quickly you tire. It’s all about adaptation and recovering as quickly as possible and using the downtime that we have to make sure we’re resting well enough so we can go again for the following session.”
