Daniel Farke respectful of Coventry threat | ‘Robins is an outstanding manager’

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has revealed his respect for Coventry City and explained how he see the game playing out when the two sides miss this weekend.

Farke’s Leeds side are currently in second place in the Championship with Leicester City having a game in hand on them and just a point behind.

Play-off chasing Sky Blues have won three of their last six games and are hotly tipped for a late burst into the play-offs.

Mark Robins has seen his side continue to perform well this season, and their form at the CBS Arena has played a big part in that, something Farke is acutely aware of.

In his press conference ahead of the game, he remarked: “If you want to be successful against good sides you have to show compactness.

“If you lose the nerves and try to overrun the opponent in the first five minutes you will lose. For both teams, it is not do or die. A point can be valuable. We head into this game respectful. Tight game. Make sure we are compact against the ball.

“Show our quality in the final third. Sometimes a game with many goals and we get a stalemate or vice versa. Struggling with my own predictions.”

Farke had plenty of time to praise his opposite number, stating: “Full of respect for Mark and the job he has done over many seasons. Remarkable what he was doing in the play-off final, then important players left and he rebuilt it.

“What he has done and how they play in the league and cup, the way he leads his team is outstanding. He should get much more credit. Deserves to be more in the spotlight. One of the outstanding coaches on this level. One of the best sides in this league. We travel with respect and confidence.”
