JUST IN: Leeds United have already had a major boost ahead of midweek Swansea City clash

Leeds United host Swansea City at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the Championship and Georginio Rutter’s Friday exploits should stand him in good stead to be extra sharp for the game

Georginio Rutter’s recovery seemed like a tall order coming into Leeds United’s match against Rotherham United, but Daniel Farke may now be rewarded for taking the chance. Rutter’s manager deemed him a serious doubt 48 hours prior to kickoff in South Yorkshire, but he ended up playing 70 minutes.

The 21-year-old returned to Thorp Arch with an abdominal strain after being unable to participate in France’s second under-21 match of the break. Farke and the team of doctors at the club started the week cautiously, but Rutter gradually started to get past the obstacles they put in his way of playing on Friday.

“He returned, was unable to play for the France squad on Monday, and an abdominal strain was the diagnosis,” Farke stated. Tuesday was our assessment day, and on Wednesday I was only able to run for a short while.

“We took the chance on Thursday and threw him into training, and he looked sharp. The running was alright and the reaction was good. He continued to use caution when shooting, and the scan revealed that the injury was not as severe as it had been during the preseason, when he missed nearly two weeks due to it.

Even though Crysencio Summerville had a great early assist, Rutter was far from his best, and it was evident from his disrupted pregame routine. Farke is hoping that Rutter’s burnt rust from Rotherham will serve him well against Swansea City on Wednesday.

He remarked, “It’s good he was available.” “It would have helped if he had trained the entire week; you could sense the last two or three percent.”It is what it is. One more assist for the opening goal. I’m hoping that the upcoming days will be productive and that he returns to 100%.

Farke has put his center forward in a much better position to now hone in for the return to Elland Road in midweek by taking that gamble with Rutter against Rotherham.
