‘To be honest’… Dermot Gallagher shares whether Brighton should been down to 10-men against Forest

Dermot Gallagher has delivered his verdict on whether Jakub Moder should have been sent off against Nottingham Forest yesterday.

The former Premier League referee has been speaking on Ref Watch on Sky Sports News this morning.

So, what did Gallagher say about the major talking point from the Forest game yesterday? Let’s take a closer look…

Well, it’s hardly going to come as a surprise that Gallagher thinks Michael Salisbury and Craig Pawson had a bit of a nightmare.

The officiating duo failed to see that the challenge from Moder was a red card offence.

Forest were incensed once again, with Morgan Gibbs-White calling the decision outrageous afterwards.

Gallagher thinks Forest have every right to bemoan this decision. He’s stated that it was a blatant red card offence by the Brighton midfielder.

He told Ref Watch on Sky Sports News: “I don’t know, to be honest. If you look at it, if I was taking young lads now to be referees and show them this. If you watch this it ticks every box. It’s a red card for me. For whatever reason, the referee and the VAR doesn’t agree.”

Forest must be wondering when they will catch a break

How anyone can watch this decision on television from four different angles and deem it not a red card is a complete and utter mystery.

Pawson is one of the country’s top officials and for him to make such a stupid error is frankly baffling from a Forest point of view.

Gallagher is on the money with his assessment and any future referee who doesn’t think the challenge from Moder is a red card will have a serious problem.

Forest will lick their wounds and dust themselves down once again – with a huge six-pointer on the horizon against Luton this week to come.
