Simulating Blackpool’s remaining 11 League One games to see how they fare against the likes of Barnsley and Derby County

Having played more games than some of the clubs above them, the Seasiders are currently six points outside of the play-off spots. Following their 1-0 loss to Leyton Orient on Tuesday night, Neil Critchley’s team is currently down to ninth in the standings.

We have individually simulated every game Blackpool has left to play this season using EA Sports FC 24 to see how many points they may end up with and whether the game thinks they have what it takes to defeat the teams that stand in their way of a possible top six finish.

Here’s what happened- and hopefully it’ll be slightly more exciting in real life:

1. How will the Seasiders finish the season?

We’ve simulated Blackpool’s remaining games on EAFC

2. Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Blackpool

Jordan Rhodes was on the scoresheet for the Seasiders, as the striker pulled Neil Critchley’s side level in a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town.

3. Blackpool 0-1 Portsmouth

Top of the table Portsmouth pick up three points at Bloomfield Road.

4. Northampton Town 0-0 Blackpool

The simulation between Blackpool and Northampton finished 0-0.

5. Wigan Athletic 1-1 Blackpool

Jordan Rhodes finds the back of the net again, as the Seasiders come from behind to draw with Wigan.

6. Blackpool 0-0 Fleetwood Town

The simulated game between Blackpool and Fleetwood Town finished in a goalless draw.

7. Derby County 0-0 Blackpool

The simulation also played out a stalemate between the Seasiders and Derby.

8. Blackpool 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers

A Jordan Rhodes goal was nothing more than a consolation in a 2-1 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.

9. Blackpool 1-1 Cambridge United

George Byers scored a late equaliser to salvage a point against Cambridge United.

10. Carlisle United 0-0 Blackpool

Another simulated game ended 0-0.

11. Blackpool 2-1 Barnsley

After falling behind in the first half, goals from Karamoko Dembele and CJ Hamilton gave the Seasiders a 2-1 win.

12. Reading 0-0 Blackpool

Yet another stalemate.

13. Final score

Well that wasn’t fun. Based on the simulation of each game, with Seasiders will pick up 11 points in their final 11 games, leaving them with a total 64. Surely the real life Blackpool squad will better that total.
