Nottingham Forest next five Premier League fixtures compared to Everton, Luton and relegation rivals
|Latest Nottingham Forest news following defeat to Aston Villa as the Premier League schedule steps up in the battle to avoid relegation
In the Premier League on Saturday, Aston Villa defeated Nottingham Forest, but several of their relegation opponents gained crucial points.
At Villa Park, strikes from Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz (twice) put Nuno Espirito Santo’s team behind three goals after just 39 minutes, and they made no attempt to rally either side of halftime. Just before halftime, Moussa Niakhate scored, and a few minutes into the second half, Morgan Gibbs-White equalized.
However, Leon Bailey restored Villa’s two-goal cushion just past the hour mark, with the hosts then holding out for the remainder of the game. While Forest’s defeat was ongoing, Crystal Palace and Everton were both leading against Burnley and Brighton, respectively.
Thankfully for Nuno, the Toffees conceded a late equaliser, which meant they remained ahead of Sean Dyche’s side by three points; however, Palace are now four points above Forest and eight points clear of the relegation zone. With that in mind, here is a look at the upcoming Premier League fixtures for Forest and their relegation-threatened rivals.
Nottingham Forest
Liverpool (H) – March 2
Luton Town (A) – March 10
Crystal Palace (H) – March 30
Fulham (H) – April 2
Verdict
Forest are certainly in danger of suffering Premier League relegation this season following a fourth league defeat in six games. The City Ground will need to be a fortress for the remaining home games, and that starts with the visit of league leaders Liverpool.
Nuno’s side are then back on their travels the following week as they take on Brighton. Everton picked up a point on their travels down south, and Forest will be hoping to obtain a similar outcome. The fixtures that come next could ultimately decide Forest’s fate with a three-game run of winnable games starting at Luton.
Crystal Palace and Fulham are then the visitors to the City Ground, with Nuno likely hoping his players can perform when it matters most.
