Liverpool target European star that did this against Man City

The latest transfer news from the Premier League and Manchester City’s rivals.

Liverpool is interested in RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda, who shone in their Champions League matchup with Manchester City.

Openda, 23, stood out despite his team’s late 3-2 loss to the defending European champions, scoring his 12th and 13th goals of the campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

After two well-executed goals in the first half, he gave the German team a startling 2-0 lead. However, goals from Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez saw his team defeated that evening.

Liverpool is reportedly one of the teams interested in the Belgian forward, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, amid the praise the forward received from the football community last night.

“What an amazing performance LoĂŻs Openda had during this first half,” he wrote on X. Belgian strikers are adjusting to #RBLeipzig’s style of play flawlessly. He is already in high demand on the Premier League transfer market as #LFC. Amazing ability.

Pep Guardiola has issued a warning to his Manchester City team, however, telling them to stop making the defensive mistakes that have surfaced in recent weeks.

With a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday, the European champions made sure they topped their Champions League group, as City overcame a two-goal deficit at the half. However, giving up careless goals has been a recurring theme in this season’s Champions League, as Guardiola’s team has been punished on five separate occasions during the group stages.

“The truth is that it didn’t happen last season,” he uttered. We discuss it; football is involved; things happen. As humans, we make mistakes and our opponents do too, but we must get better because it’s not always possible to return.”
