Later this afternoon, the 31-year-old is scheduled to have a medical exam.

Forest has been looking at a lot of options, such as a £15 million deal for Sam Johnstone of Crystal Palace and a contract for Rui Silva, the stopper for Real Betis.

The Belgium international Sels is eager to get to the City Ground following a strong campaign in France.

Despite both stoppers coming last summer, Nuno Espirito Santo has been anxious to sign a new keeper due to the continued troubles of Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Johnstone, who lost his spot as Palace’s top player to Dean Henderson, is willing to leave Selhurst Park today in an effort to maintain his spot in the England team before Euro 2024.

Johnstone’s permanent agreement has been discussed by Forest and Palace, but the City Ground team was holding out for a new goalkeeper. Mail Sport had earlier on deadline day revealed that Sels is a player who is of great interest.
