JUST IN: Bayern Munich made €75m offer for FC Barcelona’s star
Although it seemed inevitable that Bayern Munich would not be able to get FC Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo during the January transfer window, it appears that the Bavarians made an offer of €75 million nonetheless.
Naturally, the Catalans turned down that offer.
Araújo, 24, is reportedly Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel’s top choice to revamp a defensive backline that…doesn’t seem to require rebuilding. He is also being pursued by Manchester United and is expected to be the team’s top summer target. As reported by Sport Bild and photographed by @iMiaSanMia, that is:
This month, Bayern was prepared to pay Ronald Araújo €75 million, but Barcelona turned it down. The Uruguayan back is still Bayern’s top defensive target and a summer option. Manchester United is likewise considering it. In the upcoming weeks and months, Barça will make Araújo an offer for a new contract. [@cfbayern, @altobelli13]
Do you recognize this? João Palhinha, a defensive midfielder for Fulham, signed a new deal after Bayern’s failed attempt to get him, making him even more expensive and difficult to get.
Barça looks to be in a position to demand a hefty price this summer if they so want, with two bidders around them. When does Harry Kane have company in the over €100 million club?
