We’ll Move On Quickly, Leicester star says

Shannon O’Brien thinks that LCFC Women will be able to move past their disappointment on Friday because of the short turnaround between matches.

Aston Villa emerged victorious from a fiercely contested Barclays Women’s Super League match at Pirelli Stadium thanks to a goal from Rachel Daly in the 16th minute. As O’Brien stated, Leicester, on the other hand, were left lamenting lost opportunities that might have changed the course of the game.

The England Under-23 international said, “It was a tough test.” “I don’t think we truly performed to our full potential or played the best football we could have. The game became increasingly physical and more like a combat.

It is disheartening. We should have won the game, in my opinion. Looking back, we had three or four opportunities to win, or even draw and benefit from it, but we chose not to take them.

“It demonstrates that even though we lacked that clinical edge, we persisted and were unwavering in our pursuit of success. We simply need to focus on the fact that we generated the opportunities and move on to Wednesday with speed. We also need to be a little more clinical the next time. All we can do is get better.”

All attention will be on Wednesday’s Continental Tyres League Cup matchup against Everton (7 p.m. GMT kickoff), which is scheduled to take place in Burton. Also on the line is the chance to advance to the competition’s knockout stages.

“We know it’s not King Power Stadium, but we’re used to it now and we know what to expect,” the 23-year-old said in his next statement. It’s a good thing that Everton turns things around quickly.

“We want to avoid thinking about it too much. It would be wonderful if we could enter the Conti Cup tomorrow (Saturday), reflect, and then attempt to go to the quarterfinals.

“It dramatically alters your perspective and removes all of the strain and uncertainty from this game. We’re aiming for three points in an attempt to advance, and I believe we can accomplish that with the kind of players we have. It will be pleasant to move past it and be prepared to proceed once more.”

The attacker, who played for more than an hour of the match and was a part of Derby County’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup victory, was happy to be able to contribute again after missing the end of 2023 due to injury.

“It’s been a pleasure to return,” she continued. “It was a challenging year, but I’m back on track, eager to play, and delighted to receive another opportunity to support the club to the best of my ability. I’m feeling fantastic and trying my hardest to get there.”
