Any supporter discovered to have participated in posters ridiculing the passing of former Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha would face a suspension from Coventry City, the team has pledged.

On October 27, 2018, the former Foxes CEO perished in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of pilot Eric Swaffer, his girlfriend Izabela Lechowicz, and two employees of Khun Vichai, Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai.

A number of provocative banners referencing that awful occurrence about five and a half years ago were displayed on highway bridges on the M69 prior to the highly anticipated match between the two sides on Saturday afternoon at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Since then, Coventry has spoken out about the incident and made it known that they are collaborating with West Midlands Police to try to find the person(s) who are responsible.

“Coventry City completely condemns incidents today which has seen banners being displayed containing offensive content directed at Leicester City Football Club,” the Sky Blues said in a club statement.

In order to find the people who made and exhibited these banners and take appropriate action against them, Coventry City will collaborate with West Midlands Police.

“These individuals are not welcome at our football club and will face bans. Such behavior has no place in football or society.”

“We note with disappointment the disrespectful actions of a minority of opposition supporters, mocking the tragic events that deeply affected our club and community,” Leicester said in a statement posted with their own.

“Such bahaviour stands in contrast to the values of respect and unity that football should embody.

“We are grateful to Coventry City FC and the wider community who stand with us in condemning these actions. We will work with all parties to support the identification and appropriate response to those involved.”
