Report: Bayern Munich move ahead of Barcelona in race for PSG wonderkid

It was bound to happen, wasn’t it? With Xavi Simons moving on loan to Rasenballsport Leipzig (forever remember that it is not Red Bull Leipzig) from Paris Saint Germain, he was given an entire season to show the Bundesliga exactly what he can do. And that he did, dazzling the league with his special, smooth, silky skills. So, naturally, he caught the eye of Bayern Munich.

According to Fabrizio Romano, “Barcelona feel a deal for Xavi Simons will be more complicated now with many clubs involved. Bayern especially are entering the race really strongly for Simons. Max Eberl is working on the deal and has the green light from Vincent Kompany – both believe that the Dutchman will be a great addition to the squad.”

However, a deal would not be simple. “Simons is expected to make a decision only after the [European Championship]. PSG have no intention of selling the player permanently this summer.”

However, PSG would apparently be willing to loan the former FC Barcelona youngster out again. Would Bayern be willing to accept a dry loan? Would a buy option be included? Would PSG really be willing to let go of such a talented youngster? It looks like none of these questions will be answered before the EUROs are over.
