‘He is a victim’: Graeme Souness reacts to £85k-a-week Tottenham star being in talks to leave

Graeme Souness has commented on the likelihood of Eric Dier leaving Tottenham Hotspur, with Bayern Munich being a potential suitor.

Last week, HITC Football was informed by sources that Eric Dier had discussed a potential transfer to Bayern Munich, the German champions.

After Radu Dragusin’s drama, the Englishman’s prospects of departing are likely increased because Tottenham has defeated Bayern Munich—of all teams—to sign the Genoa star, according to information provided to HITC Football.

Eric Dier was never going to get many minutes under Ange Postecoglou—with Radu Dragusin or not—because the new Spurs boss wasn’t impressed with him.

Graeme Souness told talkSPORT on August 1, 24 at 11:45 am, that he believes the 29-year-old is a “victim” of the situation since the Treble-winning Celtics manager wants to play a high line, and he just doesn’t suit that.

Eric Dier’s playing time hasn’t changed much despite Tottenham’s injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, as well as their bans.

The England international has only played 198 minutes, thus Graeme Souness believes a transfer to Munich would be extremely beneficial for him.

Regarding if Dier would play for him, Souness remarked, “Depends what squad you have.” “I can see why (he isn’t playing), as the Spurs, like all the best teams, play by attempting to close the gap and exert pressure on the opposition.

“Dier isn’t the fastest one. He would never feel at ease with him pushing up the halfway line. He’s not a good match for the Spurs, and I can understand that—he would always be looking to drop off.

“I’ve watched German football, and it’s not nearly as competitive as ours. However, he had a terrific time living in a beautiful city and attending Bayern Munich, one of the best football teams in the world; he is also regarded as a genuinely nice guy.

However, he is a victim of events. a new manager who is uncomfortable playing a high line.”

Harry Kane reunion

The England captain is looking great while sporting the Bayern uniform, and he may even run into an old buddy again.

If Dier’s potential suitors, such as Thomas Tuchel, were interested in signing him, they undoubtedly would have questioned Kane about his strengths and contributions.

You would think Tuchel, who has been searching for the defensive-minded midfield thinker, would employ the £85k-per-week star in front of the back four, playing at center-back.

The only question left is whether Dier is the team’s best option to win further trophies this season, particularly in the Champions League.
