“Would be the shock of the window” – Journalist reacts to Newcastle transfer rumour he’s heard
|Newcastle United making a move for former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson could be the shock of the window.
Jordan Henderson is currently being mentioned as a potential midfield addition for Newcastle United should the club decide to make a move in January. Journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that a move by the Magpies for the former Liverpool player would be “the shock of the window.”
In order to benefit from the wealth available in the Middle East, Henderson moved to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports, Al Ettifaq, led by former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, offered him a substantial £350k per week to sign on the dotted line in exchange for paying almost £13 million to get him to leave Anfield.
The aging legend continued to be a regular for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and insisted that the move had nothing to do with the money being offered; nevertheless, after finding it difficult to adjust in Saudi Arabia, he is now apparently thinking about returning to England.
Henderson wants Premier League return
Henderson allegedly has a strong desire to rejoin the Premier League in the January transfer window, according to MailOnline. The England international is reportedly thinking about his options and has previously discussed his wish to leave with teammates. Moving back to England’s top flight would probably require him to accept a large wage cut; according to the article, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Newcastle are among the teams looking to add a midfield player.

Journalist Jones recently stated to GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle may concentrate on adding new players on loan and that they will sign one or two players during the January transfer window. Given Eddie Howe’s injured roster and Sandro Tonali’s suspension, Henderson would be a good candidate for a temporary move. If Al Ettifaq are willing to let him leave, this would also enable the Magpies to work out a contract where they aren’t obligated to pay him his entire salary.
There’s no denying that Henderson, a native of the area and a former Sunderland player, wouldn’t be interested in joining one of the Black Cats’ fiercest rivals.
Eddie Howe wants a striker
Journalist Jones told GIVEMESPORT back in December that Newcastle will be aggressively looking to add a striker during the winter transfer window. There are worries because the season has seen injuries to both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, which could once again leave the Magpies without many offensive alternatives.
