Deal for £35 million Crystal Palace target to last four years on the table.

With the announcement that they have extended an offer of a four-year contract to a summer target that Newcastle United also adores, Crystal Palace is beginning to get active in the transfer market.

The Premier League teams are presently negotiating the potential transfer of Marc Guehi, an England international centre defender. The result of these talks could have a significant impact on whether the South Londoners are able to get their other objective.
This is because, according to CaughtOffside sources, the Eagles and 24-year-old French centre-back Maxence Lacroix have struck a personal agreement, and the two teams are currently negotiating to complete the move with Wolfsburg.      The German team values Lacroix at £35 million, which would be comfortably within Palace’s budget if they manage to acquire Guehi.

For instance, according to Sky Sports, Newcastle is set to reject the player’s fourth offer, which is reportedly worth over £65 million. Interestingly, if the Magpies’ attempt to get Guehi finally fails, rumours have it that they will pursue Lacroix as well. Despite Lacroix’s recent decline in play, the Reds, in particular, are reportedly eager to bolster their defence this summer and are expected to move for him. Palace’s offer of a four-year contract, however, may deter the player’s other suitors, and additional sources suggest that Oliver Glasner wants to finalise any deal as soon as possible.

At this point in the transfer window, it’s obvious that everyone is out for themselves as players, agents, and clubs try to complete deals well ahead of the August 31 deadline. Palace’s chairman, Steve Parish, may be laughing all the way to the bank if they manage to sign Lacroix while also profiting handsomely from the move of Guehi.
