When the transfer window opens in January, Rangers and Wolves are close to signing Fabio Silva.

The Portuguese attacker is expected to finalize an arrangement that would see him go on loan to Ibrox until the end of the season.

Silva would be the first player signed by Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

The Belgian manager is eager to bolster his team after injuries have derailed his ambitions since taking over in October.

Due to injuries, Brazilian striker Danilo is sidelined for the foreseeable future. Cyriel Dessers, on the other hand, might be called up to the Nigerian team for the Africa Cup of Nations following the winter break.

This has forced the team to work quickly to bring in players for January, and Silva is one of the players who has been identified as someone who may support Clement and his team as they look to win both domestically and in the Europa League.

The 21-year-old, who has played for Portugal at all minor levels, is prepared to transfer for regular football after finding it difficult to get game time at the English Premier League team this season.

Before joining Wolves in 2020, Silva rose through the ranks at Porto. The highly regarded young player has since spent time on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.

On January 1, when the transfer market begins, Rangers will be able to register fresh signings.

Kilmarnock will visit Ibrox on January 2 in their final game before the holiday break, while the Ibrox team, who trail Celtic by five points in the title race but have two games in hand, will play their opponents at Parkhead on Saturday.
