Tottenham vs Everton early injury news as five ruled out and four doubts

All the latest injury news surrounding Tottenham and Everton as the two sides prepare to face off in the Premier League.

Tottenham return to action on Saturday when they face Everton in their second Premier League outing. Spurs got their season up and running with a draw on Monday night, failing to see out a win against Leicester City after taking the lead through Pedro Porro.

Ange Postecoglou will want significant improvement from his men when they face the Toffees in their home opener. Ahead of the arrival of Everton in North London, we have rounded up all the latest injury news surrounding both clubs.

Chermiti is out until late September with a foot injury, so he will certainly be absent here.

Nathan Patterson – Out

Patterson suffered a setback with his hamstring injury and will be absent for a few weeks. An Everton statement read: “Everton defender Nathan Patterson is expected to be out for around four to five weeks with an ankle injury. Following a consultation with a specialist in London, Patterson will now undergo treatment under the care of Everton’s medical team at Finch Farm.”

James Garner – Doubt

Garner missed Everton’s opening game but could return against Tottenham, according to the Liverpool Echo. Garner has been struggling with a lower leg injury.

Seamus Coleman – Out

Coleman picked up a calf injury during a late pre-season friendly with AS Roma. Dyche said after that game: “Unfortunately, it looks like he’s nicked his calf. We’re not sure at the moment how serious that is, but I don’t think it’s too serious – the way he came off – but we’ll just have to hope for the best.” It’s reported that Coleman is set to return in the next couple of weeks, but this game will come too soon for him.

Ashley Young – Out

Young is suspended after receiving a red card in Everton’s opening weekend defeat to Brighton.

Jarrad Branthwaite – Doubt

Branthwaite had a “minor procedure” on an injury with no timeframe initially given. He could be in the frame for this weekend but the situation is not clear.

Fraser Forster – Doubt

Ange Postecoglou has said of Forster and Richarlison: “Richy and Fraser have got back into training this week and both had a good block of training. With another week’s training before the start of the season hopefully, they’ll be in a good place. Everyone else has had a pretty good pre-pre-season.”

Yves Bissouma – Doubt

It’s unclear whether Bissouma will be considered for this one, with Tottenham having suspended him for the last game due to the laughing gas video that emerged. Postecoglou said: “We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game,” said Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.

“Beyond that, there’s also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, as well as Biss and the group. That’s what he needs to work hard at from now on – to try to win that back. He’s going to have to earn that. The door is open for him and, hopefully, we can help him realise the decisions he makes impacts more than just him. Hopefully, it allows him to make better decisions moving forward.”

Rodrigo Bentancur – Out

Bentancur suffered a concussion against Leicester City. He is okay, but will now enter concussion protocol and will be out until he can be deemed fully recovered and sufficiently rested. “He is up and communicating,” said Postecoglou after the game.

“It is a head injury and we will leave it in the hands of the medical team, but he is conscious and communicating. Nowadays we are always cautious in the moment. I don’t know the actual circumstances [of what happened].”
