More Humiliation Coming From The Sky Blues

“Incomprehensible” Swansea travel to Coventry City bandaging their humiliation from Boxing Day.

When Swansea plays Coventry City, interim manager Alan Sheehan will be watching for a response from his players after he declared their 5-0 Boxing Day loss to Southampton to be “unacceptable.”

Sheehan was back in the dugout in Hampshire, where he had overseen the previous four games, and watched as the Swans were mercilessly destroyed by the Saints, led by former manager Russell Martin. The 37-year-old, who will take command of Friday night’s game at the Coventry Building Society Arena against the Sky Blues, says he understands the frustrations of the supporters while the team searches for a full-time replacement for Michael Duff, who was fired earlier this month.

When questioned for the most recent information on the issue, he replied, “I can’t give you an update.” “We need to debrief that game right now, but I’ll be talking to the owners.” We’re incredibly let down.

When asked if he anticipated remaining in the dugout at Coventry on Friday night, he responded to WalesOnLine, saying, “I anticipate having conversations.” I know that everyone is looking for clarification.

All I can do at the moment is help the squad prepare for every game I’m asked to do. For the four games, we’ve performed that incredibly well. I believed we were in the game throughout the first half (against Southampton) of the four games that we have played. Thus, it’s a truly poor first half.

“I can understand the frustrations,” he continued. I am unable to request anything from a fan. I just arrived, and I tried my hardest to complete the task that was requested of me. Christmas Day wasn’t actually off, but that’s just the way things work. We wish to behave in such manner. It’s unfortunate, though, to see that kind of performance in the second half. We’ve got to look into it and understand why it happened and ensure it never happens again. I think it’s important we all have answers soon, and I’m sure we will.”

He remarked, “We went with the intention of going toe-to-toe against one of the best teams in the league,” in response to Tuesday’s crushing.

Swansea caretaker boss Alan Sheehan proud of players' resilience in Stoke draw

We aimed to be proactive and fearless. We were heavily involved in the game for a significant portion of the first half. We are killed by the second goal. Individual errors do occur. The third objective was then the same.

“Much of the second half didn’t appeal to me. We had open discussions. That isn’t appropriate. Sometimes we gave them goals, and we made things really difficult for ourselves. We looked good in the first half of our game, in my opinion. I believed that we were winning the game. Then, to allow the goal in the second half, is a true sucker punch. to concede the second goal like that. It’s unacceptable, but I take full responsibility for it.
