The 33-year-old former loanee of Sunderland, who left Greek team Olympiacos at the end of the last campaign, is presently without a club, though he has been linked to a return to Wearside recently.

The France international had an incredible season with the Black Cats, helping the team survive the Premier League in 2015–16.

According to recent rumors from M’Vila’s native country last summer, the midfield player was reportedly contacted by owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and was the target of attention from multiple clubs, including Sunderland. The midfield player said in an interview with Le Progres that he would go back to Sunderland.

“I talked to many Ligue 1 clubs, but I just didn’t get the small detail. I believe that I can benefit many teams because of my traits and leadership abilities. I have faith in myself,” he declared. “I don’t require the cash. I’m eager to participate in games. Despite my admiration for Ligue 2, I do not see myself participating in this competition.

To assist Sunderland in their bid to return to the Premier League, there is only one team for which I would have consented to go down to the lower league. There, I had an amazing year. Not only am I a football player, but I can also help off the field and in times of need. I’m a dependable individual. I’ll return it to you a thousand times over if you put your trust in me.
