£7.5 million star from Coventry City who gave Sheffield Wednesday fits is not allowed to play against the Owls

Coventry City will be without a star man for this weekend’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday – with no guarantee he’ll recover in time for the FA Cup battle six days later.

Attacker Haji Wright, who cost the Sky Blues approximately £7.5 million in a summer transfer from Turkish team Antalyaspor, turned in a standout performance during Wednesday’s Boxing Day loss at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Coventry showed off their flair as they won 2-0, led by Wright and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, a two-goal Japanese international.

Wednesday will be hoping for a different matchup at Hillsborough, where the visitors will be missing USA international Wright, a seven-cap player, who has missed the last two games due to a tear in his adductor muscle. Even if he’s returned to training, the match this weekend will undoubtedly come too soon.

Mark Robins, manager of Coventry, said: “He’s on the grass, so he’s getting closer and that means that the injury has healed sufficiently and now we’re just going to sort of make sure that the final part of it is right before we reintroduce him, but I think he’ll be on the grass with us and start being reintegrated into training.”

With respect to the work his rival Danny Röhl is doing, Robins, who briefly played at S6 in the 2003–04 season, expressed his excitement about taking on Wednesday. He remarked, “You’re talking about them picking up 1.6 points a game roughly around that. They are in good form.” “We are aware that they will be a formidable foe and challenging to play against. We are prepared because we are aware of what is ahead and what to anticipate.

Since Danny joined, things have altered. He’s transformed, and now that they’re working so hard and chasing the games, they frequently succeed. The previous week, they triumphed magnificently over Cardiff in the Cup, and Southampton is capable of defeating anyone.

They’ll be telling their players that, in my opinion, because they have the best players and are enjoying a fantastic run themselves. We want to maintain our good form, so we’ll travel up there, but we’re in good shape and spirits.
