For the Spurs match, Leicester is probably going to be missing four players, including Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, two of their forwards. Due to minor injuries, both are doubtful, so Tom Cannon might make an unexpected start on Monday night. Conor Coady, the centre back, will be out for at least the next three to four weeks, and backup goalie Jakub Stolarczyk will be sidelined for an extended period of time following surgery. Cooper will be tempted to award competitive debuts to new recruits Caleb Okoli, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Facundo Buonanotte, the latter having recently arrived on loan from Brighton.
Spurs vs. Leicester: projected starting lineup

Hermansen; Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Winks; Fatawu, Buonanotte, Mavididi; Cannon is Leicester’s anticipated lineup against Tottenham (4-2-3-1). Tottenham may be lacking in attacking players going into their first game, but they don’t have many injury issues. Due to injury, Richarlison missed the preseason and might not be ready to play against Leicester. Meanwhile, Solanke, a recent addition, is recovering from a minor foot ailment, though Postecoglou has mentioned that he might start in the Midlands. As he did during the preseason, Dejan Kulusevski will play in a false nine role if neither forward is available. Archie Grey, a recent addition, may make his debut against a team he is familiar with from his time at, while James Maddison is expected to play for the first time against his old squad at Leeds United.

Spurs’ anticipated lineup for their match against Leicester (4-3-3) is as follows: Vicario; Sarr, Grey; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Solanke; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie.

Although Leicester and Tottenham have scored 28 goals in their last five encounters, Leicester will be keen to keep this match as tight and competitive as possible. Given their recent goalless preseason matches and high injury list, defence will probably take precedence against an attack-focused Spurs team. However, Tottenham needs to find a way to make their greater talent matter because Leicester’s defenders can only do so much. With five goals in his last three encounters with the Foxes, Son Heung-min has the potential to be the North Londoners’ game-changing player once more.
Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Tottenham
