Newcastle fan tribute got the Amanda Staveley seal of approval as former director reacted to Bruno’s emotional message & the Magpies

A Newcastle United fan tribute got the Amanda Staveley seal of approval after the former Magpies’ director reacted to a flag in her honour on social media.
And United’s new skipper for the day, Bruno Guimaraes, also chipped in with praise for the takeover architect.

In a summer of change, Staveley, with husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, sold her shares to majority shareholders PIF and RB Sports & Media, bringing to an end her association with the football club, which began with the 2021 deal to buyout former owner Mike Ashley.

Her decision to leave was a shock to many Newcastle fans – and in the first game since her exit, fans made sure to show their appreciation for all she, and her other half, have done for the club.

Fan group Wor Flags, adorned the Gallowgate End with a special message: “We still have wild dreams.” There was also a picture of the duo on a specially-commissioned flag.

And Staveley took to Instagram to express her thanks for the gesture.

She said: “I am both humbled and grateful for all the heartfelt messages of support today: I read every one, and wish I could reply to you all personally.

“Seeing pictures of the stadium today made cry – thank you to Wor flags for all your incredible work today and over the last few years. I know better than most, the incredible work you all put in at every game. Our fans are the best – and there is nowhere better than StJames’. I will always be your Geordie girl… Wor Mandy

And Newcastle midfielder, Guimaraes, commented: “One of us 🖤🤍.”

The Brazilian debuted with the captain’s armband ahead of usual skipper Dan Burn, and with Kieran Trippier on the bench and club captain Jamaal Lascelles injured.
