Nottingham Forest v AFC Bournemouth – Reaction

AFC Bournemouth kicked off the new 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a trip to Nottingham to take on two-time European champions Nottingham Forest.

During the opening stages of the game Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo was taken off on a stretcher after a fall with Antoine Semenyo. Everyone associated with Vital AFCB hopes for a speedy recovery for the Brazilian.

The Cherries had to come from behind after conceding on 23 minutes, Neto could only parry a shot from Ryan Yates and Chris Wood had the kind of chance you hope for on the opening day of the season to open the scoring.

Less than twenty minutes later the Cherries believed they had levelled the game with a well-worked, set-piece goal from a corner that looked remarkably similar to a goal the Cherries scored at Aston Villa a few seasons ago. Unfortunately, it was disallowed by VAR for an offside against Lewis Cook in the build up.

Semenyo did however find an equaliser with four minutes remaining, which meant that the points were shared.

Alen

Amazing performance from all the debutants.
Dean Huijsen was immense – MOM – looks world-class (I don’t care about the patronising comments that will follow that statement).
Araujo was brilliant up against Forests’ strongest area of the pitch, he looked fast and powerful
& Jebbison made the team play much better, he was direct, fast powerful, and good at pressing them and linking up with Semenyo.
Billing, Christie, and Kluivert were also positive when they came on.
Zabarnyi was faultless

Negatives – Tavs is nowhere near his best
Neto made a couple of good saves but a couple of howlers
Smudge lucky not to get a red for putting his hands in their payer’s face

Kerkez played well but always gives away pointless fouls/yellows
