Crystal Palace in talks over two more signings after wrapping up £14m transfer deal

Crystal Palace are looking to build on their eye-catching finish to the Premier League season under Oliver Glasner by making a lightening start to their summer transfer business

Crystal Palace are determined to build on their extraordinary finish to the Premier League season as they look to finalise three early signings for Oliver Glasner.

Co-owner John Textor’s desire to sell his 45 per cent stake in Eagles will not hinder their plans as change continues at Selhurst Park under their highly-rated Austrian tactician, who helped Palace record their joint-record top-flight points tally after replacing Roy Hodgson in mid-February.

Now there has been a drastic shift in ambition and Palace have moved quickly to begin work on summer transfer dealings, even though the window does not officially open until June 14.

Real Betis defender Chadi Riad completed a medical earlier this week after Palace agreed a deal worth an initial £12million plus £2m in add-ons for the former Barcelona centre-back. The 20-year-old Moroccan international can be considered an Eagles player as all that remains is a formal announcement.

But Palace aren’t stopping there and they are also now closing in on the arrival of Japan international attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer from Lazio. Kamada won the Europa League under Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 before later signing a pre-contract agreement with the Italian giants.

Yet he only penned an initial one-year deal and Lazio have since failed to negotiate a contract extension, allowing long-standing admirers Palace to pounce.

The experienced 27-year-old is now in advanced talks over a move to south east London, while Palace are also working on a swoop for 18-year-old Sunderland starlet Jobe Bellingham.

They face firm competition from Brentford, however, but there is underlying confidence Palace will win the battle for the talented teenager, who will be in London this weekend to watch his older brother Jude play for Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Palace remain determined to keep hold of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton despite growing interest. Captain Marc Guehi has also attracted admirers at Liverpool and Manchester United.

But Palace are now optimistic they could launch a push for Europe next season and there is widespread internal belief that Glasner has swiftly created an environment that players want to be a part of.

That has been typified by 16-goal hot-shot Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has spent this week working on improving his fitness and conditioning in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a personal trainer as he looks to come back firing on all cylinders following a breathtaking individual season.

Meanwhile, Palace have also scouted Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy and 20-year-old Stade Reims striker Oumar Diakite.
