Tottenham, Liverpool & Bayern Munich compete for Bayern’s Leverkusen star

Bayern Munich has expressed interest in Piero Hincapie. After their attempt to buy Jonathan Tah was unsuccessful,

the Bavarian powerhouses are eager to add a centre-back. Xabi Alonso is eager to keep the 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender at the Bundesliga team, but he is also a target for Liverpool and Tottenham.Following his August 2021 transfer from CA Talleres to Bayer Leverkusen, Piero Hincapie has established himself as one of the greatest defenders in the Bundesliga. Even though he hasn’t always been Die Werkself’s first choice centre back, the South American defender has left his imprint.
The 22-year-old contributed to Bayer Leverkusen’s shocking 2023–24 Bundesliga championship victory. Hincapie has made 119 appearances for Die Werkself so far, contributing three assists and four goals. However, the Ecuadorian defender’s development has not gone unnoticed, drawing interest from a number of prestigious European teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have long been interested in the talented centre back. After Joel Matip became a free agent, the Reds were eager to add a centre defender during the summer transfer window. Thus, Hincapie has become a realistic target for Liverpool.

In the meantime, it seems sense that Piero Hincapie would be of interest to Tottenham Hotspur. Although the Bayer Leverkusen centre back is unlikely to be the North London giants’ first choice central defender, they are eager to complete their unit. In the meantime, Bayern Munich is searching the market for a player to replace Matthijs de Ligt, who has decided to join Manchester United.

The main goal for Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window has been Jonathan Tah. But now that the rumours are no longer being circulated, Die Roten must find other options. Thus, Hincapie is a good choice for Bayern Munich. But Ecuadorian international Xabi Alonso has asked to stay at BayArena past the summer transfer window. Given that Alonso is still employed by Bayer Leverkusen, it makes sense that he would prefer to hold onto the majority of the team prior to the Bundesliga title defence.
It will be intriguing to watch, though, whether Tottenham, Liverpool, or Bayern Munich can make Piero Hincapie change his mind.
