West Ham medical delayed as transfer red tape emerges in last hour

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s West Ham United medical has been delayed after the deal hit red tape, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Sunday (11 August) that the right-back whose medical was scheduled for 4pm today has been pushed back as exit terms are finalised at Old Trafford.

Will Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit Manchester United amid West Ham transfer rumours?

Everything had been running a little too smoothly on the transfer front over the last couple of days as the Hammers secured the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo, so it is only right that a little bit of chaos has returned to the London Stadium.

The most important thing from an Irons’ perspective is the fact that the Hammers remain confident that they will strike a deal with Manchester United and Wan-Bissaka will become a West Ham player sooner rather than later.

Julen Lopetegui has already spent a lot of money on his backline this summer with both Todibo and Max Kilman arriving for big fees, but he always felt it was necessary to address the lack of depth at fullback as well.

There has been a reliance on Vladimir Coufal over the last few seasons and while Ben Johnson used to provide some sort of competition, his exit earlier this summer has left the former Real Madrid boss with limited options.

Wan-Bissaka will solve that problem, but the Hammers may just have to wait a little bit longer before they officially get their man. If this deal is completed, it could cap off what has been an excellent summer at the London Stadium.
