Josip Stanisic admits he feels ‘sorry’ for scoring against parent club Bayern Munich but insists he wants to…

After Thomas Tuchel complained about the on-loan defender being permitted to play in a crucial Bundesliga match, Josip Stanisic acknowledged that he felt “sorry” for scoring against his parent club, Bayern Munich, but said that he wanted to “prove” himself at Leverkusen.

Josip Stanisic, who scored in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen over Thomas Tuchel’s team, expressed his regret for parent club Bayern Munich.

Having joined Bayern as a young player in 2017, the 23-year-old is currently on a season-long loan and is a vital member of Xabi Alonso’s championship-chasing squad.

While loan players in the Premier League are prohibited from playing against their parent clubs, Stanisic opened the weekend’s crucial match in the Bundesliga.

With a tap-in at the back post to open the scoring in the eighteenth minute, he silently celebrated, raising both arms in respect for Bayern Munich.

After the game, he expressed his satisfaction at having scored against his permanent club and emphasized his desire to give Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen his all.

You’re happy, but you’re also a little sorry for yourself. I didn’t rejoice out of deference.

Above all, I wanted to prove it to myself. This season, I want to give Bayer Leverkusen my all.

His remarks follow Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel’s outburst on the offensive full-back’s inclusion in the game that might be crucial in the battle for the championship.

Bayern’s chances of winning the championship are seriously cast in doubt after they suffered a crushing loss that prevented them from overtaking Leverkusen at the top of the table.

When Tuchel heard about the restrictions in Germany regarding loan players, he became enraged and said, “In England, there’s a nice rule where you can’t play against them when you loan them out.”

That makes more sense to me. Sadly, Germany does not follow this rule.

Born in Munich, Stanisic has made twenty appearances for Leverkusen on loan so far this season.
