Agent speaks out after big Aston Villa transfer claim

Lucas Digne is concentrated on the season ahead with Aston Villa despite claims he had agreed to a move elsewhere

Lucas Digne’s agent Mikkel Beck has rejected claims that the left-back has agreed a move to Galatasaray and insists he is fully focused on contributing to Aston Villa’s upcoming season.

The 31-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign last term and was one of Villa’s most consistent performers. He started 27 Premier League games and made a total of 46 appearances across all competitions.

Villa qualified for the Champions League, a competition which Digne has experience of playing in. He has two years remaining on his current deal and is of interest to many clubs this summer, including Galatasaray, but Beck has rubbished reports that the full-back has agreed a loan move to the Turkish champions.

“I can confirm that there has been interest from Galatasaray – and also interest from other clubs, like there is interest in every transfer window for a player of Lucas’ class,”

“Lucas has said ‘no thank you’ and is only focused on Aston Villa, so there has certainly not been any agreements made, like rumours have falsely claimed.”

He added: “Lucas is looking forward to this upcoming season with Villa after such a spectacular season for both the club and himself. Lucas had eight goal contributions last season, which is absolute top standard for a left back.

“He has played in the Champions League with his former clubs Lille, AS Roma, PSG, and Barca, and I am sure that the team will benefit from his experience in that great tournament.

“He is looking forward to another season in the Premier League and to get back into the Champions League with Villa, because he feels that sharing these moments and big games with your teammates, club, and supporters is what playing top football is all about.”
