JUST IN: Bayern Munich reach £47m agreement to sign Premier League midfielder -View

Bayern Munich have agreed to pay Fulham £47.4million for midfielder Joao Palhinha.

It will represent a club record sale for Fulham with £43.2m up front and a further £4.2m in add-ons.

Bayern have held a long-standing interest in the 28-year-old having pursued a move for him since last summer.

Fulham rejected an offer from West Ham also last year but the Portugal international had made it clear he wished to join Bayern after seeing a transfer there fall through at the last minute in August, despite undergoing a medical.

Palhinha is currently at Euro 2024 with Portugal, who will play France in the quarter-finals of the competition, and will undergo his new medical once his involvement in the tournament is over and will sign a four year contract.

He joined Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in 2022, for a fee of about £17m, and won the club’s player of the year award during his opening season at Craven Cottage.

Palhinha made 79 appearances over two seasons in west London, scoring eight times.

Bayern are continuing to negotiate with Crystal Palace for Michael Olise.

The France U21 international, who is understood to want to play for his country at the Olympics later this month, is set on joining up with Vincent Kompany but the finer details of the transfer and commission fees are still being finalised.

The Bundesliga side have also opened talks to sell Matthijs De Ligt to Manchester United as they look to bring in Jonathan tah from Bayer Leverkusen.
