Defender seals Rangers transfer exit and joins Aris Limassol

Defender Connor Goldson has sealed a move to Aris Limassol from Rangers.

Philippe Clement confirmed that the centre-back missed last week’s friendly with Birmingham City due to a “concrete offer” being received for the Ibrox stalwart. While reports had been swirling over a switch to Cyprus, a move to Aris has now been rubber-stamped as the Englishman brings his six-year stay in the Scottish Premiership to an end.

The 31-year-old joins a host of experienced first-team stars who have left Rangers this summer following John Lundstram, Borna Barisic and Kemar Roofe out of the door as Clement and director of football recruitment Nils Koppen conduct their Rangers rebuild. Goldson leaves the club having lifted the Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup as well as reaching the Europa League final.

Following the move, a statement said: “Rangers can today confirm Connor Goldson has departed the club to join Cypriot side Aris Limassol for an undisclosed fee. Everyone at Rangers wishes him the very best of luck in his future endeavours.”
