‘No excuse’… Kris Boyd exasperated by what 29-year-old Rangers star did vs Celtic

Following a Rangers player’s actions against Celtic in the Old Firm, Kris Boyd became noticeably agitated on Sky Sports.

The Hoops defeated Philippe Clement’s 10-man team 2-1 at Parkhead, with several calls going against Rangers that day.

But unlike a very wasteful Rangers, Celtic were more clinical and could afford to take their chances. They were led in scoring by Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo, but James Tavernier struck an incredible equalizer.

After the goal, there was still time to tie the score, but the Gers lost in the east end of Glasgow after 100 minutes of play.

However, things could have turned out very differently if Cyriel Dessers hadn’t been so unsure of himself when Celtic was ahead 1-0 in the first half, which greatly aggravated former Ibrox striker Boyd.

Dessers hesitancy irritates Kris Boyd

Dessers outran Stephen Welsh to the ball and found himself through on goal. However, the Nigerian was quite apprehensive while going up against Joe Hart, and ultimately, he was unable to even attempt a shot.

After Joe Hart caught the ball, Alistair Johnston was able to pin Dessers down and shrug him off.

When he evaluated the situation at halftime, Kris Boyd expressed frustration at Dessers’ inability to complete his shot despite having ample time to do so. The game’s dynamic would have been altered by a goal at that point.

“There’s just no excuse, you have to get your shot away as soon as you’re there,” Boyd said to Sky Sports.

It’s absolutely bad that he takes too many touches but never manages to get it off his feet and get a shot off.

“Alicestair Johnston deserves some recognition for his comeback. The problem is that, as a striker, you don’t give that to anyone.

“There is no justification; you should get it out of your system and take your shot.”
