5 dream managers Crystal Palace could hire if Roy Hodgson leaves

The way that Crystal Palace overcame a two-goal deficit in the final fifteen minutes to clinch a 2-2 draw against Manchester City and then shared the points with Brighton a few days later will make their supporters very happy.

Roy Hodgson: Manager answers Crystal Palace SOS at age of 75

In actuality, though, the Eagles’ season has been everything but thrilling; after 18 games, they are currently ranked 15th. They are regrettably still experiencing a terrible run of luck, as their losing record now stands at seven games.

In light of this and the fact that Roy Hodgson’s contract expires in the summer, Palace will be searching for possible successors, who may be brought in sooner rather than later if performance does not improve.

These five managers are possible successors for the Crystal Palace owner.

1. Steve Cooper

Steve Cooper is thought to be the preferred Hodgson replacement, despite recently been fired by rival Premier League team Nottingham Forest. According to sources, Palace plans to “re-open talks” with the Welshman.

Cooper’s background in nurturing young people aligns with the principles of Palace, and the team thinks he might be the most qualified candidate to spearhead the initiative.

He has also demonstrated exceptional man management, and because the former Forest manager is currently unemployed, he is undoubtedly anxious to go back to full strength as soon as possible.

2. Julen Lopetegui

Many believe that Julen Lopetegui was unfairly sacked by Wolves in the summer after he brought the club stability and saved them from relegation. According to Marca, Palace have registered their interest in the Spaniard, and they view him as a potential Hodgson replacement.

The Spanish manager’s tenure at Sevilla, when he led them to the Europa League title, demonstrated his caliber as a manager.

Lopetegui has stated that he wants to remain in the Premier League and is currently without a club. Selhurst Park might be the ideal setting for him to rekindle his managerial passion.

3. Michael Carrick

David Moyes to remain in charge of West Ham following calls for him to be sacked

Palace might be willing to take a chance on Michael Carrick as a young manager in order to enhance the team. The 42-year-old came close to rejoining the Premier League with Middlesbrough the previous campaign, but they lost in the play-offs.

Carrick has very high expectations, which probably come from his playing experience at Manchester United, so it seems sense to think he would seize the chance if a Premier League team approached him.

Carrick’s exciting approach to the beautiful game would go hand in hand with Palace’s ambitions, and he could definitely get the fans on side. It’s worth noting, however, that no concrete links have emerged regarding the Eagles’ interest.

4. Kieran McKenna

Kieran McKenna is performing admirably for Ipswich Town, and after leading the Tractor Boys to victory in 16 of their 23 Championship games, he is expected to play in the Premier League next season.

Dean Jones stated that the Eagles could get McKenna’s services if they wished to wrest him away from the team he helped ascend the EFL ladder.

He stated to GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t think Kieran McKenna would be out of reach for Crystal Palace if they decided they wanted to go and get him, but I do believe that Steve Cooper is the man they want

That said, the chances of the boss leaving Ipswich behind are unlikely, but he would bring some fantastic football to Selhurst Park if he were to join, and the squad would fit his approach rather well.

5. Graham Potter

Graham Potter 'turns down international manager's job' as ex-Chelsea boss begins search for new club | The Sun

Graham Potter would be the ideal addition to help Palace become a premier team, even though it would be a little unrealistic to get him considering that he has turned down numerous offers from teams like Lyon, Leicester, and the Sweden national team.

Potter was fired from Chelsea after a brief tenure due to poor performance, but he has a track record of transforming mediocre teams into high-achieving organizations from his time as Brighton’s manager.

The Palace supporters demand more after years of lackluster performances, and the former Blues manager would bring out the best in players like Ebere Eze and Michael Olise while changing the play style. Yet, the supporters might not exactly throw the former Seagulls manager a huge welcome.
