Nottingham Forest suffer potential injury concern in pre-season friendly

Nottingham Forest have suffered a potential injury concern in their third pre-season friendly.

Elliot Anderson was forced off in the final few minutes of the first half of the Reds’ clash with Millwall at the Pinatar Arena in Spain. He had gone down after a poor challenge and needed treatment on the pitch.

Unable to continue, the midfielder looked in some discomfort as he was helped off. He was replaced by Callum Hudson-Odoi with just a few minutes to go until the break.

The Reds will be hoping it is nothing serious for their summer signing. Anderson had impressed in the friendlies so far.

The 21-year-old made the move from Newcastle United earlier this month. He had put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the City Ground.

Anderson had been included in the XI for the first half of Forest’s friendly with Millwall. And he had contributed to a positive performance by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side early on.

Looking to build on the positives from their first two friendlies, the Reds created a few promising openings early on. Anderson had an effort blocked and Chris Wood put a header wide.

It didn’t take long for the breakthrough to come, though. And when it did, it was with some style. With 19 minutes gone, Wood supplied the finish after Nicolas Dominguez had cushioned the ball into his path from Morgan Gibbs-White’s ball into the box.

Forest continued to put some nice moves together in the first half. Anderson being forced off after a tackle was the only down side to the opening 45 minutes as they went in at the break 1-0 up.
