£8.4m discount on the cards for West Ham to sign No 1 target

Bayern Munich could lower their asking price for Noussair Mazraoui by as much as £8.4million amid interest from West Ham

The German news outlet reported [22 July] that Bayern originally wanted £25.2million but could now accept a deal between £16.8million and £21million, with the Hammers putting him at the top of their transfer list.

West Ham United handed crucial Noussair Mazraoui transfer boost

Julen Lopetegui is still searching for new transfers to bring to the London Stadium, putting his own spin on the current squad.

Mazraoui’s versatility, possessing the ability to play on both flanks, would be an exciting prospect despite having a lack of game time for the Bundesliga giants.

He has made just 55 appearances since signing for Bayern as a free agent in the summer of 2022, being kept out of the starting XI by midfielder Joshua Kimmich for much of the last two league campaigns.

This should not be a concern for those at the London Stadium, however, with the right-back being a well-established international player with Morocco, boasting 23 appearances for his nation.

While £25.2million could have been a bit of a stretch for the Hammers, with him likely to play a backup role to Vladimir Coufal and Emerson, £16.8million looks to be a much fairer deal.

If Lopetegui can help him rediscover the form he showed during his time at Ajax, West Ham will have a very talented player on their hands, one that can make an impact at both ends of the pitch.

It will also push the two current full-backs, Coufal and Emerson, to perform better for the Hammers, who may have become too comfortable during the 2023/24 campaign.
