Why Leeds United and Leicester City will be ‘worried’ about in-form Ipswich Town

The last home game for Leeds United in an exciting 2023 will have a lot on the line. The Whites want to defeat Ipswich Town in the league and get to within seven points of the automatic promotion spots.

Nonetheless, the Tractor Boys, who have only lost twice in the Championship this year, will be optimistic as they travel to Elland Road. Town has taken 13 of a possible 15 points since losing 2-0 at West Bromwich Albion on November 25th, strengthening their hold on second place.

After Saturday’s trip to West Yorkshire, Kieran McKenna’s troops entertain table-topping Leicester City on Boxing Day. It could be a pivotal few days in their push for promotion.

“To me, they [Ipswich] proved what ability they have in the games they have played so far,” pundit Andy Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports. They have nothing to prove in those matches against Leicester and Leeds. The Leeds match is, in my opinion, more crucial because Leicester will most likely win the championship handily. Maintaining a healthy lead over Leeds is the goal.

“I am quite excited to visit Elland Road on Saturday. With both teams going for it, the game will be quite interesting. However, my opinion of Ipswich would remain unchanged regardless of their outcome, win or lose in both contests. Given that they continued from their League One performance, Leeds and Leicester will be worried about playing Ipswich. Just because they drew with Norwich, there won’t be any fear from them.”
