Five Leeds United players on notice as Daniel Farke finalises transfer plans

Several Leeds United players could still leave this summer as Daniel Farke may look to refresh his options as the Whites aim for Premier League promotion

As many as five Leeds United players could leave this summer. Daniel Farke may look to refresh his options as the Whites aim for Premier League promotion after narrowly missing out in the play-off final defeat to Southampton in May.

Leeds finished third in the Sky Bet Championship with 90 points last term, with Ipswich Town and Leicester City pipping the Whites to automatic promotion. Over the previous decade, Leeds’ points total would have secured promotion with an average of 89.6 – for first place and 84.6 – for second place – for promotion to England’s top league.

Farke’s side are well into their pre-season preparations – they were victorious over Harrogate Town on Friday night winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Georginio Rutter, Sam Chambers and Junior Firpo.

The signing of Jayden Bogle is a welcome addition to their ranks with the manager’s preferred side likely to become apparent during Leeds’ pre-season matches in Germany and the visit of La Liga outfit Valencia at Elland Road on August 3. Their Championship campaign will begin on August 10 against Portsmouth.

The players who could leave are listed below:

Crysencio Summerville

In terms of statistics, Crysencio Summerville returned impressive figures of 20 goals in 46 league appearances – finishing third in the league’s standings behind Adam Armstrong and Sammy Szomodics. However, his form impressed Premier League suitors including Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Willy Gnonto

On June 30 Leeds Live reported that the Whites may be forced to accept a £35m bid if one was forthcoming for Gnonto due to missing out on Premier League football. Last summer the Italian international was heavily linked with a potential transfer to Everton but it never materialised meaning he played in Leeds’ 2023/24 championship campaign. The 20-year-old may not have fit the heights expected of him but he still managed to contribute with eight goals and three assists.

Ilian Meslier

The French goalkeeper has been the Whites’ number one for four seasons, making the spot very much his own. At 24, the player may feel he is ready to step up a level from Championship football.

Junior Firpo

Firpo has been linked with a move to his former club Real Betis as reported The left-back was an integral part of Farke’s side last season playing 29 matches with eight assists.

Joe Gelhardt

The Liverpool-born attacking midfielder signed a four-year contract at the club in August 2020, making his debut in September 2021. Initially, he impressed scoring his first Premier League goal in a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in December 2021.

However, he fell out of favour the following season with Rodrigo and Luis Sinisterra the first choice in his position. This led to a loan spell at Sunderland where he made 20 appearances registering three goals and three assists.
