A “brutal” admission is made by a Leeds United old boy before of Chelsea’s FA Cup match.

Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United return to action on Wednesday evening when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round at Stamford Bridge

Leeds United and Chelsea will face off in the FA Cup this week in what Lee Sharpe calls a “brutal” matchup. On Wednesday night, the Whites travel to Stamford Bridge with the intention of securing a spot in the competition’s quarterfinals.

Daniel Farke’s team will be confident about their chances of pulling off a cup upset, having just won the Championship for the ninth time in a row. With the Championship team playing in today’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, they also benefit from additional recuperation time.

Sharpe, a former United midfielder, stated: “When Leeds plays Chelsea, the game is always brutal.” and the supporters become fervent about it. Leeds should be confident in their prospects of beating Chelsea, in my opinion. You would expect that Chelsea’s fatigue following Sunday’s League Cup final match against Liverpool would help Leeds.

“I can’t wait to watch it and I think it’s going to be an unbelievable game. Obviously, Chelsea are going to have to be below their best for Leeds to get a result, but Leeds can beat anyone on their day – they play brilliant, high-tempo football, they’re organised, they’re clever and they’ve got goalscorers.

“I think it’s going to make for a really entertaining game and I hope Leeds pull it off!”

United, chasing automatic promotion back to the Premier League, have already beaten Peterborough United and Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup this year. A 4-1 replay win over Plymouth set up the Chelsea tie.

More than 5,300 Whites supporters will head to the capital to cheer on Farke’s side.
