Tottenham news on injuries and transfers
Spurs’ season has started off incredibly well under Ange Postecoglou, with some very striking football and a well-received choice in their new manager. Tottenham is currently fifth in the table after 17 league games this season, but they could be much further up if it weren’t for a run of unfortunate injuries.

Sadly, during the 4-1 home loss to Chelsea at the start of November, things fell apart. James Maddison’s and Micky van de Ven’s injuries were a huge blow, especially given how important both players were in the first few months of the season. Postecoglou still without both of them, but they are not the only players who have been absent; among the other players who have been sidelined are Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs may have to make new additions during the January transfer window if Postecoglou feels he has the necessary squad depth to mount a top-four campaign as a result of these physical issues. Santiago Gimenez, a striker for Feyenoord, has been connected to a move to Tottenham. Jarrad Branthwaite, a promising young center-back for Everton, and Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice have both been mentioned as possible targets.

Man Utd and Spurs are competing for Marc Guehi.
Spurs are reportedly interested in acquiring Crystal Palace center back Marc Guehi as well, considering him to be a solid addition to the defense, according to a recent report from Spain. It is said that they have “sights set” on him.

But Manchester United is also eager to get the England international because they want to strengthen a weak spot on the field. Spurs or United might have to pay up to £60 million to acquire him.

Guehi might be a great addition for Spurs in January, but it’s unclear if he wants to leave the team midway through the season with Euro 2024 quickly approaching. The 23-year-old may believe that playing every week, as he is at Palace right now, is his best opportunity of making an impact for England next summer, and he wouldn’t necessarily be given that luxury at Tottenham.

Appearances 16
Clearances per game 4.6
Aerial duel wins per game 1.5
Tackles per game 1.3
Pass completion rate 87.4%

Although Guehi would not be cheap, goalkeeper Josef Bursik has called him a “absolute tank” after they played together at the England Under-21 level. Guehi is someone who Spurs should be targeting, even though moving to a Champions League-chasing club with an exciting manager could appeal. It might even help his stock rise a lot more, getting him in the public eye every week and improving his chances of becoming a star man for his country.
