Int’l star stance on summer West Ham transfer emerges as Juventus begin talks – view

Jean-Clair Todibo has prioritised talks with Juventus ahead of his negotiations with West Ham United, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian outlet reported on its website on Sunday (7 July) that a move to East London is now unlikely for the French international after the Irons spent ÂŁ40million to sign Max Kilaman from Wolves.

Juventus’ interest in the centre-back has also reduced the chances of him joining up with Julen Lopetegui’s side this summer and the Serie A club already has a good relationship with Nice having recently signed Khephren Thuram.

Will West Ham United sign Jean-Clair Todibo amid Juventus transfer interest?

While West Ham have already forked out a lot of money to bring Kilman to East London this summer, there is a belief that Lopetegui and Steidten are ready to spend to try and revamp the defence left behind by David Moyes.

Under the Scotsman, last term, no club that avoided relegation from the Premier League conceded more goals than the Hammers and to stop that happening again next season, the Irons were always going to need to recruit well.

Kilman is an excellent start, but further defensive additions are required as well if the Irons want to qualify for Europe again. Todibo seems like the perfect fit and profile, but that ship may have already sailed following this latest update.

Juventus appear to have jumped to the top of the queue for the Frenchman’s signature after Manchester United also dropped out of the race and unless something changes quickly, the Irons may not get their man.

If the Hammers make an improved offer, that would surely be enough to swap both Todibo and Nice away from agreeing a deal to see the defender head to Turin, but it remains to be seen if they will make a new approach.
